The Community Arts Training Institute is a non-profit that harnesses the power of the arts to advance social change.
The CAT Institute equips artists and community partners to lead creative initiatives and strengthen the field of arts-based community development through research, network building, and convenings.
The History
As a part of Regional Arts Commission for almost 30 years, more than 400 social workers, educators, community workers, and artists of all disciplines completed the Community Arts Training program.
The CAT Institute is the oldest sustained training program of its kind in the country.
CAT fellows have established creative programs and grown the impact of local organizations, including Bread & Roses MO, COCA, St. Louis Artworks, Peter & Paul Community Services, Perennial, Prison Performing Arts, Intersect Arts, Barnes Hospital Patient Program, Central Print, Zuka Artists Guild, Metro Theater, and more.
